Please make your own homework, not copying from your classmates. If you have questions or for clarifications, please write your comments here. To determine the extent of the progress in the conduct of the research project, please submit a revised/updated report report, including Chapters 1 to 4. Please note that this submission will be the basis in determining the readiness of the groups to defend their thesis in January 2018.
Non-submission of the said report will jeopardize the student's graduation status. In particular, for graduating students, after the oral defense, each group is required to submit the final copy of the thesis, bearing the signatures of the members of the examiners. This means that all the comments, suggestions and modifications suggested by the panel of examiners are already incorporated in the final version of the thesis. DELAYS IN THE SUBMISSION OF THE FINAL VERSION OF THE THESIS WILL HAMPER THE CANDIDANCY FOR GRADUATION. For this progress report, all the comments and suggestions from the examiners during the research proposal defense are already incorporated in the report particularly the literature review and methodology. Partial results and findings of the study are also included in the submission. In case there are still NO results, please write down in Chapter 4, the major activities being undertaken such as preparation of the materials, fabrication of the equipment, testing preparation, and other undertakings. As stated in the previous announcement, the exemption is based on the result of the oral presentation and final report submission. In addition, exemption is also based on the score in midterm exam, assignments, quizzes, and groupworks. It means that even if the report and oral presentation were exceptional, but midterm result was low, the student is required to take the final examination, including those students who were not present during the oral presentation.
The following students are exempted to take final examination, but they have the option to take it if they feel that they want to improve their grades. 1. Fruelda (Group 2, CE3 Blk 1) 2. Thus, members of these groups listed below will automatically NOT EXEMPTED TO TAKE THE FINAL EXAMINATION. For those groups not listed below are exempted to take the final examination, however some of their members might take the final examination due to low midterm examinations/quizzes scores, and lack of other requirements such as assignments, groupwork exercises and attendance. These details include the data/information to be added in the report such as photos; water quality analysis; (in tables); maps; detailed description of the treatment process; detailed comparison of 2 selected commercial bottled water vs the refilling station in terms of treatment process, cost, water analysis, etc.; and rewriting of summary, conclusion and recommendations. There are missing parts of the report such table of contents, paging, photo captions, list of references, recommendations, location map/vicinity map, and other supporting documents such as permits, water analysis. Please note that these missing data/information were already discussed to the group during the oral presentation. This is to reiterate my discussion during the class, the important things to be considered in writing up your report and in preparation of your power point presentation materials.
A. FINAL REPORT CONTENT AND FORMAT 1. Minimum of 10 pages 2. Letter Size/Short Bond Paper 3. Border line, 1 inch in all sides of the paper 4. Double space, 11-12 font size 5. Photos with caption/description - only 2 photos maximum per page. Collage is not allowed 6. Minimal design for the cover page, indicating the group number, list of members and year/block and class time schedule 7. Follow the basic rules in technical report writing that is: it contains the following: table of contents including annexes, title of table or figures, paging, and all the headings listed in the template should be included in the report. 8. In your analysis, it is recommended to "tell a story". Discuss them in details and incorporate those knowledge you learned from the class. BE INNOVATIVE in presenting the data or information by using graphs or charts and tables, or even process diagram or flow chart. 9. A list of references should be part of the report. This is only shows that some of your information were taken from the website or other sources (books, technical papers, handouts, interviews, etc.) 10. A print of the power point presentation (2 slides per page) should be included in the report. Black and white print is recommended. 11. The report should be binded by a PVC spiral material and will be handed over prior to the oral presentation. Late submission will not be allowed to present their reports. B. POWER POINT PRESENTATION/SLIDE PRESENTATION MATERIALS 1. Use a simple design template with 3 maximum colors 2. Only include the summary of the report. Not all the information in the report will be reflected in the slide presentation. 3. Pictures/photos/graphs/charts are recommended to be incorporated in the presentation to enhance visual presentation 3. Indicate in one slide the contributions/tasks of each member in the preparation of the report and PPP materials. 4. All members will present and questions will be asked for each member. 5. Maximum of 10 minutes for the oral presentation and 5-10 minutes for the Q/A. You can submit a draft report for review prior to finalization/binding to ensure the completeness of the report. |
